InSoft CAS is a local-network utility that lets you discover and manage CAS CL-5500 / CL-5200 (CL-5000-family) weighing scales over TCP/IP on your LAN. Features include connection, PLU and product management, related scale tables, reports and diagnostics, Excel (.xlsx) import, and an offline demo / guest mode with sample data.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the Android app InSoft CAS (package de.insoftonline.insoft_cas), built with Flutter. It does not cover other InSoft products unless those products have their own privacy policies linked from our privacy policies index.

3. Data we process

No accounts and no login. The app does not create user accounts, does not require email, name or password, and does not offer Google, Apple or social sign-in.

Device preferences stored locally may include the last scale host (IP or hostname), last scale port (often 20304 by default), UI language (Arabic, German or English), and theme preference (light, dark or system). These stay on the device until you clear app data or uninstall.

Files you choose: you may pick .xlsx files from device storage to import products, and may export or save templates through the system file picker. The app does not scan your whole gallery or contacts. File contents are used for your scale workflow and are not sent to InSoft Online as part of that import feature.

Scale traffic: communication with the scale happens directly between your device and the scale on the local network. Product data, reports and configuration exchanged with the scale are not uploaded by the app to InSoft Online servers as part of normal operation. There is no mandatory cloud sync for PLUs or scale tables in this app.

4. Purposes and legal bases

We process the data above only to provide scale management features, remember your connection and UI settings, and support import or export at your request.

Where the GDPR applies, processing is typically based on Art. 6 (1) (b) (providing the tool you use) and Art. 6 (1) (f) (legitimate interests in operating a local B2B utility). There is currently no optional tracking that would rely on consent.

5. Where data is stored

Preferences and session-related settings live on your device. Scale catalogs and related data stay on your LAN and on the scale itself for core features. InSoft Online does not host your scale catalogs through this app.

International transfers: the app does not transfer scale catalogs to InSoft cloud servers for core features.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We do not share scale contents with third parties through this app. We may disclose data only if legally required (for example a valid request from a competent authority).

Installation and updates go through Google Play. Google’s own terms and privacy policy apply to Play services, payments and any platform-level crash reports Google collects as platform operator. That is separate from publisher practices described here.

The app uses Flutter and open-source packages (UI, preferences, file picking and similar). Those libraries run on the device and do not by themselves create an InSoft cloud profile.

7. Retention

Local preferences remain until you clear app data or uninstall. Files you save stay only as long as you keep them on the device.

8. Security

Local network security is the responsibility of you or your organisation. Use a trusted Wi‑Fi network for scale control.

CAS scale protocol on the LAN uses plain TCP (cleartext), not HTTPS. Cleartext TCP is used only as required by the scale hardware protocol on the local network. Network access is used for TCP connection to scales and LAN discovery, including Wi‑Fi state and, where present, multicast-related permissions to assist discovery.

9. Your rights

Depending on applicable law you may have rights of access, erasure (clear app data or uninstall), objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Germany typically your state data protection authority).

10. Children

The app is intended for business and retail use (scale operators and shop staff). It is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect children’s data.

11. What we do not collect

Unless this policy is updated later, the app and publisher do not sell personal data, show third-party advertising networks in the app, use analytics SDKs that identify users, access contacts, SMS, call logs or precise GPS for marketing, record microphone or camera for core features, or track you across other apps for advertising.

Demo / guest mode uses built-in sample data on the device. No live scale and no personal user profile are required for demo mode.

12. Changes

We may update this privacy policy when the app or our practices change. The version date above will be revised. Continued use of the app after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
